Water skiers everywhere know the name and reputation of Robin Lake at Georgia's Callaway Gardens. To most, it is the home of the Masters and Junior Masters Water Ski Tournaments. To others, it is the center of water skiing dreams. Some say the waters of Robin Lake are special, magical or maybe even spiritual! At the very least, reserved for only a special few.....until now! On July 8, 2011, Callaway Gardens and Robin Lake will be the site of the first ever combined Georgia State and Tennessee State Water Ski Tournament. a.k.a The Ga/Tn State Water Ski Challenge. For 2 1/2 days, skiers will compete for individual and overall titles by state in traditional 3-Event water skiing. Saturday night will include a special Junior Awards Banquet. The tournament is being co-sponsored by the Georgia and Tennessee Water Ski Federations and is open to only Georgia and Tennessee residents. Callaway Gardens and Robin Lake Beach will be open to the public. Did You Know? The 1974 U.S. Nationals was held at Callaway Gardens. Callaway Garden was the home of the Georgia Open for many years each Labor Day weekend. The Georgia State Tournamment was held at Callaway Gardens over 30 years ago. It is not the first time the Tennessee State Tournament has bee held outside Tennessee. (West Memphis, Arkansas and Ft, Oglethorpe, Georgia). Steve Raybourne
